HD and data on AnimeXD, and what the older runs look like

What HD means for anime made between the 1980s and the 2010s, and how much data a run uses.

The year on the card

Much of this catalogue was made for the televisions of its day: the 1990s runs in standard definition, the 2000s in the switch to widescreen, the 2010s in HD. The services carry the best master that exists, and the HD label on a card says the title plays in high definition on the services listed; an older run was remastered or upscaled, and it looks as good as it will look.

Data

An episode in HD uses about half a gigabyte and a quarter at 480p, which is the setting for mobile data on a long run. The downloads page explains how to take an arc over Wi-Fi.

When it buffers

Drop the tier one step in the service's player and it settles.
